Newly opened in Phuket City in October 2013, the Phuket Trickeye Museum is an interactive 3D attraction that uses backgrounds of paintings that allows people to place themselves in these settings, engage with artwork and fool the audience into believing that the scene is real.
The viewer has a percieved reality, one that works on the basis of trompe l'oeil, French for 'trick of the eye'. The art techniques used in these backdrops use realistic imagery to create optical illusions or objects that exist in three dimensions. When someone enters 'the picture', it appears that they are actually part of the picture themselves.
The museum is divided into various zones that simulate aspects such as ancient time, differing moods of fun and imagination and famous paintings.
