Phuket Youth Sailing Club

Phuket

The Club is a great way for kids to learn how to sail. Optimists and Topazes, both small dinghies, are provided and instruction given so kids can get comfortable on the water, do some racing and above all, have some fun! Underprivileged children are supported.

The Phuket Youth Sailing Club on quiet and rustic Ao Yon Beach aims to promote and develop youth sailing in Phuket by teaching kids sailing in dinghies and bringing skills developed and fun to their lives. They are also trained to compete in national regattas in Thailand, thus bringing future talent for the kingdom and country.

The club is open to all youth from the age of 7 and specifically supports local and underprivileged children to participate in the club's activities. There are currently over 20 young people who have joined the club and 17 who have lived at the Sunshine Village Foundation.

Phuket Youth Week is held annually in October and is a training event to prepare young sailors for the season, giving a good introduction to sailing and racing and giving the skills to participate in Regattas. Kids have competed in Optimist dinghies in Junior Phuket Raceweek, Admiral's Cup, TOG Optimist Nationals and Hua Hin Regatta.

Do you want to learn how to sail? Both youths and adults can enroll and participate in sailing courses. The club has a team of professionals from Topper Sail Phuket RYA (Royal Yachting Association) Training Centre to run instructional courses.
