Description

This immersive 2.5-hour tour begins at Hill Tribe Elephant Village, a sanctuary created by hill tribe families who have cared for elephants for generations. Located in a forested area behind Patong Beach, the sanctuary is a final home for elephants retired from the tourism industry. Start by learning the personal history of each elephant and their mahout. Then, help prepare herbal medical food—natural nutrition that supports their healing. Next, walk with the elephants into the forest. Here, you’ll observe how elephants behave when free from performance or riding expectations. Our guides will explain their body language, social habits, and how we care for them with respect. This experience is educational, ethical, and unforgettable.

As a newly established sanctuary, we currently do not have a toilet facility. We truly apologize for this inconvenience. Our goal is to preserve as much natural forest as possible, and avoiding construction helps ensure the elephants have plenty of space to roam freely. We do not use barriers or fences to separate humans and elephants. You may see elephants anywhere in the sanctuary, depending on where they choose to walk, rest, or bathe. For your safety and theirs, please follow our team’s instructions strictly at all times.
