Description

Step into the world of the Phuket Vegetarian Festival, an immersive and soul-stirring experience that transcends the ordinary. Join us on a spiritual odyssey that will leave you enlightened and inspired. 'Kin' (or ggin) means 'to eat' in Thai, while 'Jay' is referred to the strict no-meat dietary that is beyond normal vegan/vegetarian. Phuket is well-known for its widely celebration of this annual festival. Many restaurants that usually sell meat even closed their doors during this 9-day long ceremony. If you're in Phuket, you're in luck! Come with us on this small-group (max 8 pax) tour that will take you into the deeper understanding behind Jay festival. You will get to: - observe the street procession close-up; great for photo opportunity - visit the shrine with our guide; opt to join the prayers for blessings and prosperities - eat Jay lunch; delicious Thai food with no meat - sampling Jay street snacks; led by our guides, you will be trying bites here and there Partial proceeds will be donated to Chinese shrines in Phuket. Menstruating women are discouraged to join the tour due to religious reasons. As much as we would like to include everyone, we need to respect the local culture here as well.

Includes

Important Information

  • Important Notice: Prepare for Deeply Spiritual Cultural Experiences As you participate, be aware of two distinct practices: *Crucifixion Ritual: Devotees may pierce their bodies during the festival, believing they absorb the pain of others. While it's a profound display of faith, it can be intense for some viewers. *Divine Possession: You may witness participants in a trance, seemingly possessed by deities, shaking uncontrollably. This is a sacred experience but may be unsettling to some. Your well-being is our priority. Feel free to step aside if you find these experiences distressing. Engage with our guides for support and insights. We're here to make your experience memorable and respectful of local customs. Respectful Participation Essential: We warmly welcome curious minds who respect cultural traditions. Disruptive or disrespectful behavior will not be tolerated, and non-compliant participants may be removed from the tour without refunds.
